Imagine what it would mean for your business to see a 763% increase in revenue. For one of our e-commerce clients, this was a reality.

Within just one year of working with us, this client achieved an 846% surge in search traffic and a 763% increase in revenue—all from organic traffic. Unlike paid ads, which eat into your profit margins, organic traffic delivers pure profit, and this client was ecstatic with the results.

1. Client Background

Here’s a bit about the client, while keeping their identity private:

  • Launched their e-commerce brand in February
  • Started working with Inbound Pursuit in May 2019
  • Sells products for pregnant women
  • Had never done SEO before
  • Relied heavily on paid social ads for revenue

They were looking to diversify their revenue streams through SEO, which is where we stepped in.

2. Initial Organic Traffic & Sales

When we started working with them on May 16, 2019, we compared their results to the previous 30 days (April 16 – May 15):

  • 1,179 users
  • 106 transactions
  • $4,260.85 in revenue

While their organic traffic wasn’t bad, they knew it could be much better.

3. Our SEO Strategy

Our approach to SEO consists of several phases that build on one another:

  • Keyword Research
  • Competitor Analysis
  • Technical SEO
  • Content Creation
  • Link Building

Let’s break down how we applied each phase for this client.

A. Keyword Research

The client provided a list of keywords they wanted to rank for. Our first task was to ensure these keywords had sufficient search volume and were not overly competitive.

We targeted keywords with:

  • More than 100 monthly searches (unless location-specific)
  • Pages with domain authority under 40 or minimal backlinks

After qualifying the keywords, we ended up with five strong targets, but we needed more. So, we turned to competitor analysis.

B. Competitor Analysis

Using Ahrefs, we analyzed competitors to discover which keywords they were ranking for. This helped us expand our keyword list and uncover new opportunities.

C. Technical SEO

Technical SEO is the backbone of any successful campaign. We optimized the site by fixing common issues like:

  • Slow loading speed
  • Non-mobile-friendly pages
  • Broken links
  • Thin content
  • Missing metadata

We also reworked the site architecture and optimized product pages for specific keywords, which had the biggest impact on their rankings.

D. Content Creation

Each page on the website was optimized for one primary keyword. We published one blog post per week, each over 1,000 words, targeting relevant keywords and internally linking to product pages.

By the end of the year, the site went from ranking for 2 keywords on Google’s first page to over 270 keywords.

E. Link Building

We secured the client’s brand on all social media platforms and built local business citations, creating a ring of trust. We focused on building contextual links to blog posts, which passed authority to the product pages.

4. The Results

After a year of executing this strategy, the client saw remarkable growth:

  • 11,160 users
  • 831 transactions
  • $36,771.75 in revenue

With this foundation in place, we’re now aiming to scale their business to $100,000 per month in organic revenue.

This is the power of a well-executed SEO strategy. When you optimize consistently and publish high-quality content, the sky’s the limit.

That’s what winning SEO looks like.
